What is Keyword Proximity

Keyword prominence refers to how prominent keywords are within a web page. With SEO techniques evolving continuously and the landscape changing all the time some people have come to a conclusion that its time keyword density is something SEOs should stop paying attention to, keyword prominence is the new mantra and concept that needs to be analyzed and evaluated.

Keyword prominence can be assessed by seeing whether they appear in the title of a page; meta description; H1 and H2 tags; Alt tags; Anchor text of both internal and external navigation; I personally don’t vouch for it so much, however it is recommended that they be there at the beginning of the body text.

Keyword Proximity

Keyword proximity refers to the closeness between two or more keywords. In general, the closer the keywords the better. Keyword Proximity refers to the distance between two related key terms. Generally speaking, the shorter the distance between two targeted words, the better that page will rank for that "key phrase" in the major search engines, all other variables being equal.
