Website Gives Your Business an Online Presence & helps it grow |
|
In my profession I very often come across people who refuse to see how having an online presence can be of any benefit to their business. Their reasons and logics vary and many a times exceed mine! I strongly believe that every business should have an identify online. People's excuses for not having a website revolves around logics like, their business is way too small to go online, or that they don’t sell products, just offer services like carpet cleaning and plumbing, or that they have had a website before and it was very expensive, and the one of the more common reason is that they have never needed to advertise, and that they generate enough orders to keep them going through word of mouth, and therefore they wouldn't consider having a website for their business. A website is an important tool for many reasons. First, it can save you time. Whether it is a simple one page site describing products and services you offer or a hi-tech e-commerce site, that enables your target customers to read and review of your products, it saves your time. And where small businesses are concerned websites help you connect with a far wider and varied audience than some of us can even envisage. A website also saves you money – It is a great tool to market your products/ services from a more effective platform, and to a much wider audience. Many small businesses after getting a website have observed an upward surge in turnover. A well written, informative website, can definitely generate better business than any traditional methods of advertising like leaflets, Yellow Pages etc can. Gone are the days when people looked at yellow pages to find a local mechanic. Now typing ‘Mechanics in Sydney’ into Google takes them to hundreds of website detailing the service. I would like all small business owners to understand this and also that the initial cost of having an effective website may seem high at first but once the business starts rolling in they will know the real power of the investment they have made.. Another reason to get a website is because your competitors have one. If your competitor has a website and you don't then you may be indirectly promoting his business. People looking for your services online will find your competitor's website but not yours. So you lose out! If you do not have a website then your competitors is facing less competition on the net, which in turn means a higher percentage of searches for your products or services will ultimately be directed to their website. A well designed website with a unique USP helps a business grow like nothing does. A website is your first point of contact with potential customers, and you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression. An attractive, easy to use website will help to convey that confidence to your costumers online. The internet has leveled the playing field, and we can compete against market leaders, without spending on advertising and self promotion. I personally feel brochures are often quite costly to produce,
and the information quickly becoming out of date. Where as once your website has been produced, changing information such as prices can easily be done, for a fraction of the cost of printing a new brochure.
